In this project case study, I will be sharing my experience designing a website for a non-profit drug/alcohol recovery organization. The goal was to create a website that made it easy for users, friends of users, and other organizations to view their programs, answer common questions, and ask for help.
Throughout the process, I focused on creating an intuitive user interface that would enhance the overall user experience and encourage engagement with the site.

The first thing I did when I started was sit down with the Strategic Director and gathered information. He encouraged me to "tear apart the original site" and provide a detailed critique of what could be improved. Over the next hour, I outlined all the issues the original site had and identified areas for improvement. I asked him about their objectives, what they want to see from a revamped website. I wanted to understand what the company stood for, what motivated them in the first place. I want to align my vision when designing this website with the vision of the company.
To align my vision with the company’s goals, I asked about their objectives and what they hoped to achieve with a revamped site. I wanted to understand the company’s mission, values, and motivations. Additionally, I researched competitors to gauge what we were up against and shortlisted three sites for the CEO to review as sources of inspiration.
I then gathered as much user information as I could to understand the needs of the users themselves, if there was anything the original site didn't provide, I wanted to provide it. I compiled the data into a pie chart and presented it to the Strategic Director to discuss possible changes according to user feedback that I found on their WordPress form data. We created a foundation for the content they wanted to see and I started on the sitemap.
Based on this research, I realized that this site would have to be extremely optimized for simplicity, far more than most sites. The users seemed to be lost easily and constantly under the influence. This led me to design a layout that would drip the content in an easy to digest way that anyone could follow.
Throughout the process, I worked closely with the Strategic Director to ensure that the website met their requirements and aligned with their brand identity. Even after the contract ended I still communicate with them to ensure that everything is going smoothly.

The final outcome of the new InnerVisions Website was a user-friendly and engaging digital product that exceeded the client’s expectations.
Users were able to easily view programs, call for help, answer common question and contact the organization, all within a seamless and intuitive website experience.
